Hi Everyone
Thank you for coming to the site. This past year has been super busy and I am so excited about all the great things to come in 2008. I started an Austin Chapter of Girls Rock camp, a non-profit dedicated to teaching girls empowerment through music education. Our first session was a great success. The Chronicle wrote a great article about it, you can read about it here:

The other exciting news is a new website and blog will be coming in the spring along with a few other surprises which I cannot reveal yet.
As For lessons,I now have room for private students.I am currently running these specials posted below now through January 1.You can purchase these lessons through pay pal to reserve your January spot or directly through me if you plan to start your lessons right away. Please call me before you purchase a package.
As of now I am not doing group lessons. I am planning to put together an affordable community class for adults in the spring semester. Punk Rock Guitar for Women will be fun and only 5$ bucks a class(if I charged more than that is wouldnt be punk rock) I am currently looking for a location. In the meantime if you are looking for more affordable way of learning guitar I will do Duet lessons .I will only do this for college students/struggling artist and at certain times during the day. Please call me or send me and email for more info
Hope to hear from you

Here are some answers to many FAQ
Ques: Why a studio just for girls?
Ans: Why not? Only part of my studio is just for girls. Girl power guitar is about giving girls and women an opportunity that they are not usually encouraged to try. This is why I have "all female group" guitar classes. My private lessons are for both male and female students.
Ques: What inspired you to start Girl power Guitar?
Ans: A few years ago I received a grant to start an all girl summer guitar camp in Memphis, Tennessee for Girls Incorporated. It was one of my most enjoyable teaching experiences. Besides teaching guitar, I had the opportunity to expose the girls to female guitarists who have contributed to the field of music - artists such as Rosetta Tharpe, Maybelle Carter and Memphis Minnie were included in the curriculum. Living in Memphis also gave me the opportunity to introduce these girls to important female blues performers whose careers were often not appreciated. The response to the program was overwhelming. All the girls were inspired by stories of the women who paved the way for them.
Many Parents told me how other aspects of their daughters lives improved. Their self-esteem skyrocketed. I love and strongly believe in what I do. I feel If a girl can play 3-chords in a rock band, there is nothing she cannot accomplish. I would like to turn Girl power guitar into a non-profit so girls from all income levels have the opportunity to play guitar and learn more about women in music. Guitar music is such a male dominated field, but, I am trying my best to change that and so are other women across the country - check out the Rock and Roll Camp for Girls in Portland, Oregon or the Willa Mae Guitar Camp In Brooklyn, New York.
Ques: Do you teach guys?
Ans: Of course, I teach guys. I would like to stress again this is not an anti-guy thing. My private students include boys and girls, women and men. The group classes are just for women.
Ques: Can I take lessons with my child?
Ans: Yes, I welcome and encourage you to sit in on the lessons. But I will focus on what your child is learning and then show you so you know how to help her practice. I will not try to squeeze in Smoke on the Water to help you. However if you want to privately study with me, please do so.

Ques: Do you teach children under 5?
Ans: I am about to start training to teach Suzuki guitar. Once I am certified to
teach Suzuki, I will place an announcement and start accepting students under 5.
Ques: Why do you not offer group lessons for children under 12?
Ans: Teaching a group class is very difficult. In my years of teaching, I find
it can only work with middle and high school students, mainly because they are able to work autonomously at this age. Young children do not do as well in group classes because they need individual attention.

Ques: Help! I am about to buy a guitar; Where do I start?
Ans: Please call me before you buy a guitar. I have seen so many parents and
women get ripped off and I do not want this to happen to you. There are some models I recommend but it all depends on the individual, what style they want to play, etc. Most children under 10 need a _ size guitar. If you are an adult, call me, once I talk to you, I can make the appropriate recommendation on which guitar to buy. Walking into a guitar store is very similar to dealing with a car dealership, you need to be prepared, so call me.

Ques: Are you mean? I had lessons as a child and had a horrible teacher. I want
this to be a positive experience for my child.
Ans: This sounds silly but people ask me this all the time. Even though I am
classically trained, I am not a monster. Once you meet me you will see I am the opposite of the mean music teacher." I do this for a living and I want the lessons to be enjoyable for me as well as the student. I have been studying guitar all my life and I am
aware that there are still many mean teachers among us. I try to make everything
as fun as I possibly can. This is why I use the first month of private lessons as a trial period for you and for me. If you are not happy after 4 lessons you are allowed to terminate our lesson agreement.
